Privacy policy
This policy explains how EmptyTrunks Inc. ("emptytrunks", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects personal information when you use our website, apps, delivery services, and text messaging program. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Information we collect
- Contact details: name, email address, mobile phone number.
- Order details: pickup and delivery addresses, delivery instructions, order contents you describe, and delivery photos used as proof of delivery.
- Driver details: information needed to onboard and pay independent drivers, and location while a driver is on an active job.
- Payment details: processed by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.
- SMS consent records: when and how you opted in or out of text messages.
- Technical data: basic device and usage information needed to run and secure the service.
How we use it
- To accept, dispatch, and complete deliveries.
- To send order, delivery, account, and dispatch notifications, including by text message if you opted in.
- To process payments and pay drivers.
- To provide customer support and resolve delivery issues.
- To keep the service safe and meet legal obligations.
Text messaging and mobile information
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from all information-sharing categories in this policy and will not be shared with any third parties.
We use your mobile number only to send the messages you agreed to receive through emptytrunks Delivery Notifications and to provide support. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.
When we share information
We share personal information only as needed to provide the service:
- Between customers, merchants, and drivers: a driver sees the pickup and delivery details for jobs they accept; a customer sees their driver's first name and delivery status.
- Service providers: companies that host our systems, process payments, and deliver text messages on our behalf, under contracts that limit their use of the data to providing those services.
- Legal requirements: when required by law or to protect the safety of people using the service.
We do not sell personal information.
Retention and security
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. We use access controls, encryption in transit, and limited staff access to protect it. Some service providers may store data outside Canada; when they do, it is subject to the laws of that country.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to access or correct your personal information, withdraw consent to text messages, or ask us to delete your account by emailing info@emptytrunks.com. We respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the effective date above and notify active users.
